These are the minimum rates in Woolworths Australian Food Group Agreement 2024, the enterprise agreement approved by the Fair Work Commission. The agreement does not print the rates in force now, so each figure is worked out from its own increase rule and marked as derived. They are not advertised or average pay.
Woolworths pay rates, level by level.
Adult base rates for every classification in clause 4.1: store team members, clerical staff and tradespeople. Weekly rates are for 38 ordinary hours; part-time staff are paid the same hourly rate.
In force from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026. Every figure marked * is derived.

* Clause 4.3 lifts the printed rates each July by the percentage the Annual Wage Review orders for the General Retail Industry Award: 3.5% from July 2025 and 4.75% from July 2026. The agreement does not print the results or say how to round them, so each weekly rate here is the printed weekly rate increased by those percentages and rounded to the cent at each step. The hourly rate is the weekly rate divided by 38, as clause 4.1(b) does, and the casual rate adds the 25% loading. Take-home is an estimate for a single Australian resident for tax purposes working 38 hours a week, with no study loan and no Medicare levy surcharge, using the same Wage Calculator as the rest of this site. Superannuation is paid on top.
When the rates change.
Each increase starts with a pay period rather than on the date itself, so a payslip that spans a changeover can carry the old rate for part of the period.
- 21 October 2024Agreement begins operating at the rates printed in clause 4.1.
- 1 July 2025Rates rise by 3.5%, the Annual Wage Review increase to the retail award (PR786542).
- 1 July 2026Rates rise by 4.75%, the Annual Wage Review increase to the retail award (PR799285). These are the rates in force now.
- 1 July 2027Rates rise by the percentage the 2027 Annual Wage Review orders for the retail award. That figure is not yet published.
- 17 April 2028Nominal expiry date. The agreement keeps applying after this date until it is replaced or terminated.
How the agreement compares with the retail award.
The award that would otherwise cover supermarket work is the General Retail Industry Award. The table sets the agreement’s lowest adult rate against the award’s lowest adult rate, and each junior rate against the award’s rate for the same age, because the agreement does not map its levels onto the award’s.
| Agreement classification | Agreement | Award comparator | Award | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Store Team Member Level 1 | $28.26 | Retail Employee Level 1 | $27.81 | $0.45 above |
Junior rates now.
| Agreement classification | Agreement | Award comparator | Award | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16 years and under (award age 16) | $14.13 | 16 years of age, 50% | $13.91 | $0.22 above |
| 17 years | $16.96 | 17 years of age, 60% | $16.69 | $0.27 above |
| 18 years | $19.78 | 18 years of age, 70% | $19.47 | $0.31 above |
| 19 years | $22.61 | 19 years of age, 80% | $22.25 | $0.36 above |
From 1 December 2026, for 18 and 19 year olds.
The retail award lifts its junior percentages for 18 and 19 year olds who have been with their employer for more than six months, in steps from 1 December 2026 (PR813655). On these figures the award rate will then be higher than this agreement’s junior rate. Section 206 of the Fair Work Act 2009 does not let an agreement’s base rate fall below the award’s, so the award rate is the one owed.
| Agreement classification | Agreement now | Award comparator | Award | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18 years | $19.78 | 18, more than 6 months’ service, 75% | $20.86 | $1.08 below |
| 19 years | $22.61 | 19, more than 6 months’ service, 85% | $23.64 | $1.03 below |
Award figures are the General Retail Industry Award rates in force from 1 July 2026 (PR799285), as published on the Retail Award Pay Rates page. Every comparison here is arithmetic on the two sets of figures, and covers base rates only, before penalties, allowances and loadings.
Junior rates.
Clause 4.4 applies to Store Team Member Level 1 or Clerical Assistant Level 1 under 20. Every other classification is paid the adult rate at any age.

Evening, weekend and public holiday rates.
Clause 6.2 and 19.2. Each figure is added to the base rate for the hour worked. The casual column already includes the 25% casual loading, and the public holiday rates replace the other rates for those hours.

The rates as the agreement prints them.
Clause 4.1 prints a weekly and an hourly rate for each classification, in force when the agreement began operating on 21 October 2024. The weekly rate prevails, and every hourly figure is its weekly rate divided by 38 to the cent.

Who the Woolworths agreement covers.
Clause 1.2 says: “This Agreement covers Woolworths and its employees who are employed in Woolworths’ Retail Supermarket Operations (team members).” It also says: “This Agreement does not cover Woolworths employees who work in salaried positions.” The agreement applies in every state and territory, and while it applies the General Retail Industry Award does not (clause 1.5).
The employer is Woolworths Group Limited. Staff in other parts of the Woolworths Group fall outside clause 1.2, and salaried store managers are excluded by it.
The agreement was made on 19 June 2024 and approved by a Full Bench of the Commission on 22 July 2024, after it heard objections from other unions and employees. It began operating on 21 October 2024.

Every figure on this page comes from the agreement as published by the Fair Work Commission, which prints the approval decision on its first pages, and from the Commission’s Annual Wage Review determinations for the General Retail Industry Award that the agreement’s increase rule refers to. Nothing is copied from a union, recruiter, salary survey or other pay site. The extraction stops on any cent of disagreement:
- 11 of 11: every printed hourly rate is its weekly rate / 38, to the cent
- 22 of 22: two independent text extractions of the PDF agree on every printed figure
- clause 1.1 commencement and nominal expiry equal the approval decision
What this page does not cover.
Advertised or actual pay
These are the minimums the agreement sets. Woolworths can pay more, and Appendix F saves some conditions from older agreements for particular groups.
Apprentices and trainees
Apprentices are paid a percentage of the Tradesperson Level 4 rate (clause 4.5) and trainees under clause 4.7. Neither is tabled here.
Shiftwork and baking
Shiftwork and baking production have their own rates in clause 11 and are not in the penalty table.
Allowances and overtime
Allowances, overtime and higher duties are set elsewhere in the agreement and are not converted to dollar figures here.
Salaried roles
Store managers and other salaried staff are outside the agreement, so no rate here applies to them.
Award-covered retail work
Shops not on their own agreement are paid under the award, which is on Retail Award Pay Rates.
Woolworths Pay Rates questions, answered.
How much does Woolworths pay an hour?
At least $28.26 an hour for an adult Store Team Member Level 1, or $1,073.93 for a full-time week of 38 hours, from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026. The agreement prints its October 2024 rates and lifts them each July by the Annual Wage Review percentage for the retail award, 3.5% in 2025 and 4.75% in 2026, so the figure is worked out from that rule. Store Team Member Level 6, the top store classification, is $31.77 an hour.
What is the casual rate at Woolworths?
A casual is paid the base rate plus a 25% loading, which is $35.33 an hour at Store Team Member Level 1. The agreement's penalty rates for casuals already include the loading: base rate plus 50% on a Saturday, plus 75% on a Sunday between 9am and 11pm, and plus 150% on a public holiday.
What does a 16 or 17 year old earn at Woolworths?
A Store Team Member Level 1 or Clerical Assistant Level 1 under 20 is paid a percentage of the adult rate: 50% at 16 and under, which is $14.13 an hour, and 60% at 17, which is $16.96. At 18 it is 70% and at 19 it is 80%. From 20, and in every other classification at any age, the adult rate applies. How the retail award treats the same ages is on Junior Pay Rates.
Does the Woolworths agreement pay more than the retail award?
On base pay for an adult, yes: Store Team Member Level 1 is $28.26 an hour against $27.81 for Retail Employee Level 1 in the award, $0.45 more. That compares base rates only. The Commission approved the agreement as passing the better off overall test against the award, and its penalty rates are set differently. From 1 December 2026 the award's rate for an 18 year old with more than six months' service, $20.86, will be above the $19.78 this agreement's percentage gives. The other retail agreements read here set their rates another way: Coles Pay Rates lifts its printed rates by the award's Level 1 rise each July, and Kmart Pay Rates pays the award rate plus a fixed number of cents.
When does the Woolworths enterprise agreement expire?
Its nominal expiry date is 17 April 2028. That is not an end date: the agreement keeps applying after it until a new agreement replaces it or the Commission terminates it. Before then it has one more increase to run, in July 2027, by whatever percentage the 2027 Annual Wage Review gives the retail award.
